Steps For The Prevention of Skin Aging and Wrinkling

By Julie Samtsonn

Let's face it, getting older means your skin aging even wrinkling and sagging. When those first lines and wrinkles appear, it is time to start buying products on the market that tells us they can get rid of the fine lines and wrinkles. The science of aging is that the damage is done long before the lines and wrinkles appear and products used topically would only reduce the appearance, without actually making them go away. Unless done surgically.

Skin aging starts in the early years, with overexposure to the sun and or years of dry, cold winters. All the external elements that make oxidants attack the skin cells and accelerate the fat stores in cells, are detrimental to vitamins and hydration that keep them appearing plump. When the fat stores are reduced, they begin to shrivel and dry and no longer reproduce new cell growth like before. The turnover of cells begins to slow down so the outer layer of skin is composed of older, more weathered cells. These older cells look dull, and facial muscle contractions start forming wrinkles in the form of smile lines, frown lines, brow lines, crow's feet and general sagging. People rush for anti-aging and anti wrinkle creams when they suspect their skin is aging.

The best way to prevent aging skin is to limit things like sun exposure, especially in the hottest parts of the day. Always use quality sun block that will limit UV ray exposure andwear sunglasses. Sunglasses will help block UV rays and protect the fine skin around the eye area. Avoid Tanning Beds, these things are death traps that use UV rays to accelerate tanning. It's more harmful to your skin than regular sun exposure and doesn't provide any of the natural nutrients or benefits you will get from sunlight. Make sure you eat a healthy diet that is rich in fruits and vegetables so that you get lots of antioxidants. Antioxidants promote healthy cell production and eliminate damaging toxins from your body. Take vitamins and supplements like Vitamin A, C and E to help promote healthy skin cell growth. Don't smoke, this is for many health reasons, but particularly for your skin. The oxidants and toixins produced by smoking slow skin cell turnover and promote wrinkles.

Use anti-oxidants enriched skin care solutions that promote hydrating, as dry skin cells will make you look older so they should be exfoliated. Focus around the eye area, because this is where aging begins first with puffiness and fine lines, around the thinner skin in the area. Retinol A products will remove dead, dry skin cells that are found in the form of chemical peel. This will show the healthy, new cells underneath and enhance new cell growth, elastin and collagen production.

These hints will help you to prevent premature aging and can be used in conjunction with anti aging creams and anti wrinkle creams. It's best to get an early start rather than wait until the signs are really obvious.
