Hottest Niche on the Market Today Is People Searching

By Samantha Carterson

Just go over to Google or Yahoo and enter "people search" and you'll discover instantly why this is a highly attractive niche. People searching accounts for nearly a third of all the searches done on these two largest search engines. Whether looking for a missing classmate or just trying to get the lowdown on somebody, the activity is enormous and non-stop. And this particular niche is expected to continue to expand for a long time yet to come.

There's more than one way to get started in the people search business. You could set up your own website, of course, but you'd still have to develop your database with all the names, addresses, and phone numbers of people. And that could certainly take a lot of time, plus it would probably be extremely expensive to do. A more practical approach would be for you to join someone else's program. Many of the people search sites do have affiliate programs, and this is probably the easiest route to take.

It's really easy to start with an affiliate program. But how do you choose a good program? It is essential that it include a good training program, and the training should be easily accessible right there in the member's area of the site. The program should have easy setup instructions. And the website should be easy to navigate.

Your program should have provided you with ways to market your new people search engine. But if they didn't, let me just recap some of the most common and most effective ways to market.

Article marketing takes time to develop, but it's effective and it's also free to do. There are thousands of article sites and directories where you can submit your articles. But why do it at all? Well, the reasons are many first of all, some of the article sites are very attractive to the major search engines like Google and Yahoo, so your article can appear there very quickly, sometimes in a matter of days. Plus, many of the services allow others to use your articles as long as they credit your name and copy it exactly, including all your links. This can result in you getting many, many back-links, just what you need to drive traffic to your site.

Another free method for marketing is to post your ads on the free ad sites. There are thousands of these -- just do a Google search and you'll find them. There are some drawbacks, though. First, your ad won't stay on the front page very long, and you'll have to keep posting it. Second, it requires a lot of your time.

Another free way to advertise is to post in forums. But be careful to follow the forum rules about posting. Most forums do not allow you to post ads. But most of them will allow you to put your link in your forum signature.

And then, of course, there is paid advertising (paid-to-click). Google Adwords, of course, is the best known, but many also use Yahoo and MSN as well as smaller ad services with great success. I do not recommend this for beginners, though. It's really easy to lose a lot of money with this method if you don't know what you're doing. It requires a lot of testing plus a significant budget to get started. It's best to read the free resources online about this type of marketing before you even think about trying it.

Buying traffic is lame. It might get your Alexa ranking up, but it definitely will not make you any sales. The majority of sites that sell traffic do not send real actual people to visit your website. The traffic is all fake -- it's produced by an autobot. So, no, do not do it. Not ever, not ever, not ever.

Go slowly; take one step at a time, and you will surely achieve success. I wish you all the best.
