The Epiphone Supernova Guitar

By Aaron Shanty

Nothing shouts rock n roll much more than a guitar that features the guitar players personal name and brand name of one of the biggest bands or musicians. Custom signature models of guitars are a very important part of any manufacturers range and provides more credibility and praise from the stars of today and yesterday that use and promote their guitar. It is also part of the overall marketing strategy of the manufacturer - but it is a very good way of selling more products.

Made in Korea, the Epiphone Supernova is the personal signature guitar of Noel Gallagher from the rock band Oasis - definitely one of the biggest, classic, troublesome and best rock bands of the past twenty years. Noel is the songwriter that backs Oasis, whist his brother Liam is the swaggering lead singer, never out of the eye of the paparazzi and definitely famous for his brash and loud personality, being rude and over the top rock star credentials. Oasis are known for classics such as Wonderwall and Live Forever and their style of Brit-Pop and guitar rock still stands the ravages of time and is perfectly influential and relevant to todays bands. Oasis are more mellow now and not quite as popular as they used to be, Oasis are still producing great albums under the leadership of Noel - who reports he plans to release his solo album in the future.

The 1995 Epiphone Supernova is a custom made designed version of the Epiphone Sheraton guitar, another one of the manufacturers more popular guitars. However, the Supernova we can purchase currently is not the same version as the version used by Noel though. During the promotion of the best selling album, Whats The Story Morning Glory, Noel was filmed and pictured playing a specially made Epiphone Sheraton painted with the British flag. Designed to mimic that actual guitar, the public version has a different shape and some minor amendments such as featuring different types of pick-ups, Alnico 57s as opposed to mini humbucker pickups which are found on the original. The originating model played by Noel now hangs in the O2 arena in London as part of the British Music Experience.

The %KEYWORD1% is no longer manufactured but was made in several colors including the famous signature union jack model requested by Noel. The others were sky blue to represent the Manchester City Football Club that Noel follows, Cherry Red and a very rare Ebony Black model. The Supernova features large block fret markers, a slim, long scale neck, a rose wood fretboard, a vintage tremolo, a hollow body which allows it to be easy to use and much easier to play. The pick guard has Noels signature on and features the Epiphone brand image.

The %KEYWORD1% produces warm sounds that are suitable for blues or rock. Sounding quite a bit like a more expensive Gibson model, the %KEYWORD1% will deliver the results you want. The build quality is excellent and should be without any major defects or issues.

The %KEYWORD1% is perfect guitar and well worth spending your money on - especially if you also enjoy the band!
