Understanding Xbox 360 Faults

By Toby L. Johns

Whenever you start having issues with your Xbox 360, many times it's because of things you did. The reason Microsoft hasn't had any huge lawsuits against them outside of the scratching games problem, is because most problems revolve around improper use. However, you purchased this gaming console to play it right? Then you should be able to enjoy all the benefits without hassle.

The first thing that you need to think about if you want to make sure that your Xbox 360 stays in good shape is that you should protect the console. Overheating the box is one of the first ways that people hurt their machines, and it can lead to hard drive failure. This is why you should be aware of the coding error message and the red lights.

This is why it's extremely important to assess the issue and try to figure out why your system isn't functioning properly. One Xbox 360 fault that is very common is overheating. Over time your system will build up a good collection of dust on the inside. Eventually it will get to the point where your cooling center over works itself, and in turn overheats. When you start to notice the console freezing during game play, this is usually the culprit.

Another fault behind the 360 is the hard drive. It is found on the top of your console with a sliding attachment. When you get what is called the "death ring" or 3 lights of death, your hard drive is done. Problems can be anything from not reading games to simply not ever being able to turn on again. It's the one that cost the big bucks if you want to have it replaced.

Finally, let's look at your basic disc reading error. This means that dust has built up in the system. You may need to contact someone who can help you remove the dust or you can do it yourself. The laser might be dirty and other areas around it might be as well. Happily enough, it is an easy problem with an easy solution if you know what you are looking for and want to take care of it yourself.

What it eventually comes down to is whether or not you want to spend the money having someone else do it for you. While it is the easy way out, it can also be full of headaches along the way. What is said to take four to six weeks ends up taking longer and is basically taking away from your gaming fun. While this may be true, there are solutions to all your problems all in one place.

When you are ready to take on the problems in your Xbox 360 head on, take some time out to really consider what your options are. Do you want to start playing again as soon as possible? If so, see what kind of information and tools that you have that are going to help you.
