Internet TV and the standard tv are colliding and are due to change the way we watch and how we see television content. Currently competition in the sectors of web access and Cable television are pretty much non existent. The content providers provide the high-speed connections do not want viewers to cancel their contracts and begin viewing television on the web. But it is too late and people are doing just that. In their droves.

Where do you think the big cable companies make all their money? Its from broadband sign ups. They can pretty much charge whatever they like.

The problem is that, they arent improving the speeds to compare with other countries like Japan. And the reason? They dont like the consequences. Cable companies make from the average American household around $700 per year for over 100 channels of cable TV. But most customers view only 15 channels or less.

The general public want more variety in channels and choice of what to watch. Endless repeats and other garbage is not welcome especially when your paying high fees. When you visit any internet TV websites such as worldtvpc, Hulu and YouTube, you see how diverse and large the selection of video and tv streams is. The best thing is that most of this content costs nothing at all. And even on Demand tv is very low priced. For example an episode can cost just $0.99. If you choose wisely and dont mind waiting a day after airing for catch up tv then you can get all your online tv content free.

To try and keep subscribers whilst stopping the rise of internet TV. Cable companies are keeping the broadband speeds slow (compared to other parts of the world) and even charging you per megabyte downloaded!

The problem is that internet tv is still marching on. It seems that every day a new internet tv company appears, and brings with it technology to make viewing even easier and the choice even greater.

The big manufacturers including Panasonic, Samsung and Sony are now including as standard internet connections built in to the hardware. Making connection to all of the web based content a breeze.

The Games console companies have also jumped on the internet television bandwagon. Microsoft with the Xbox 360 which has direct access to websites like Netflix for video on demand. You can also rent movies and TV on PS3. Youtube can be viewed on Nintendo.

And at the same time, manufacturers like Roku, Apple, TiVo plus Vudu all want to be the dominant internet TV set top box.

This new advancement will eventually end up as part of a standard television set. And no matter what the cable companies try to do to scuttle their plans. Watching TV using the Internet will be a reality for most of the worlds population sooner rather than later.
