Old school web pages are quickly getting replaced by better looking, faster loading websites. Web designers have increased their skill set because modern technology has continued to grow rapidly. Most simple HTML web pages are now being re-designed using CSS and modern web standards.

What if none of that makes sense to you? How can you place an order for a new website without knowing all the acronyms and learning the jargon? First off, make sure the company you select eliminates the technical talk and speaks to you in terms that make sense to you.

After all, your auto mechanic doesn't expect you to talk shop when discussing your car that is in his repair shop. You just tell him whats going wrong, and breaks out his tools and fixes it. So, if you are buying a new website, simply tell the designer or project manager your needs, then wait for their response.

Will you offer them a free white paper that explains service offerings? Will you require videos for educating your visitors and potential customers?

Examining these items before signing a web design contract is important. After you have done your research, you should be able to have a good understanding of what will be needed. Nobody knows your business like you do, so make sure your provider gets the big picture. Ask yourself, "what do you do better than your competitors?" Also you must ask yourself "Is there anything unique or special that business offers?"

Knowing these things before you commiting to a contract for web design is crucial. If you are still unsure, doing some research should help make things understandable and much more clear. After all, nobody knows your business better than you do. What do you do better than your competitors? Is there something truly unique about your business that poeple should know about?

Try to find a service provider that understands your goals and matches your personality. Don't fall prey to pushy sales tactics. Know exactly what you want and find out what the going rates are before making a decision. Beware of providers that are too eager and offer extremely low prices. Most often these people and companies are novices that will leave you with more problems than you bargained for.
