Different Airsoft Rifle Models

By Justin Kander

All airsoft rifles function nearly identically, but what they are modeled after is as important. Airsoft rifles come in all different shapes and sizes, and many are replicas of real world guns.

The AK-47 is a very popular airsoft replica. It has been used for decades and has a relatively simple design. Also, this rifle is one of the few that is found nearly all around the world.

One type of rifle recognized for its interesting design is the Steyr AUG. This rifle was developed around thirty years ago and has been widely utilized ever since. In airsoft gun form, it is useful due to its accuracy and speed.

A fairly new type of rifle is the Heckler & Koch G36 assault rifle. The G36 is incredibly precise and has gained a lot of notoriety in its short existence. G36 airsoft guns are produced primarily by Classic Army and Echo1.

Echo1 also happens to produce several M14 variants. While the M14 is used much less than it was ten years ago, it still is somewhat prevalent and is great for reenactments.

A more modern variant similar to the M14 is the M16. This rifle is widely used in the American military as well as in airsoft games. Full metal airsoft M16s are especially powerful and are ideal for advanced players or professionals.

Another well known Heckler & Koch product is the MP5 submachine gun. The defining characteristic of this model is the small size and rapid firing rate, and these properties transfer over in to airsoft too.

These are just a few of the many variants available in airsoft. Even people who do not play airsoft like to buy airsoft guns just for the replica value, although to get the most out of them it is suggested that they actually be used.
