Website Advertising and Your Money

By Samo Yanezic

Regardless of the type of website you may have, there are various ways that you can make money with website advertising. If you have a small one page website that tells about your hobby of stamp collecting, it can make money. You can even make money if you have a blog where you detail all the routines of your daily life and experiences.

Everyone from the mom and pop restaurant down the street from you, to large multi national corporations use the world wide web to make money, and as more and more people turn off their television sets in favor of the internet, its a trend that is expected to grow. Here are four ways you can make money with your website.

1. Advertise Your Services and Products Online. This technique is useful for business owners who build websites to drive traffic to their businesses. For instance, a plumber cant fix your sink over the internet, but he can give his phone number, talk about his company, and advertise his prices. The plumber successfully uses his website to make money, even though no money exchange occurs online. However, a new client can hire him since they found out more about his company online.

2. Sell Your Services and Products Online. Advertising takes a step further with this technique. You advertise your services and product on your website, however your client has the option of paying for them without having to meet, you, the seller in person. Most websites of this nature are equipped with what is called a shopping cart. The Shopping Cart feature allows the customer to pay for the item using a credit card or a Pay Pal account. You will then be responsible for shipping the merchandise to the customer.

3. Permit Others to Advertise on Your Website. You can make money with website adspace, even if you do not sell any type of services or products. Using this technique, the more popular your website becomes, the more money you can make. Banners and contextual ads are two of the most popular techniques that are useful for advertising. A banner is a small, self-contained advertisement that more often than not appears anywhere near the top of your web page. When one of your visitors clicks that ad, they are redirected to the website of the advertiser and you make money. The technique of contextual advertising varies somewhat. Your webpage is scanned for content and then ads appear on your website according to the content. For instance, an ad for fertilizer may appear if your website features gardening. Google Adsense is the most popular contextual advertising company.

4. Write Ads for Others on Your Website. The most popular way to do this is to make money with website blogs. This is a good way to make money online, but its not something that happens right away. Most companies that hire bloggers to write adds for them require that the blog be at least 90 days old with no period of inactivity over 7 days, and that it have original non-advertisement quality content. This method is not recommended for those who dont like to write.

It is not just a lucky few who can make money with website advertising. Chances are that if you have a website you can explore some of these methods and start making money right away. The amount of money you make will depend upon how creative and original you are as well as how much work you decide to put into it.
