Kids Clothing That Looks Great But Doesn't Cost A Lot

By Jennifer Hess

If you've got kids, you know expensive shopping for them is. It's a truth we can't escape, and one we must deal with, regularly. If you are hoping to save a little cash on kids clothing, there are some easy ways to get the most out of your clothing budget. Start out by creating online accounts at all of your favorite department stores.

When you create accounts with stores, they will ask you to opt in for secret sales and special discounts. Check the box and you're on your way to extra savings. Special discounts are available usually to online customers only, so make sure you get in on the savings!

Many times, online and walk in stores have special sales that may only last for a short period of time. While no one expects you to rearrange your schedule to shop, try to make it to these limited time offerings. You can typically score additional savings on already marked down merchandise.

A favorite pastime of many Moms is shopping the sale aisles. While some kids cringe at the thought, they really have no clue until they try. You can get the coolest looks at deep discounted prices in the sales section of any department store or online retailer. Find something really cheap? Get several, no matter what color or size they're in. If you find sizes larger than your child is currently wearing, they'll have something cool to wear the next size up, as well. It's a win-win situation.

The great thing about kids clothing today is that the fashions seem to be pretty constant. No huge swings in styles mean that you can keep the kids dressed well for less. Buy in bulk, especially merchandise you find in neutral shades that don't tend to go out of fad. You can get super deals on staple items like sweatpants, shirts and undergarments at any discounted department store. Remove the tag and no one can tell the difference on what you paid.

Get yourself serious savings when you purchase the main items of clothing for your kids wardrobes in bulk, especially when you find them on sale. Tank tops and socks, tee's and sweats can be bought very cheaply at discount stores and they look just like brand name items. Get special bonus offers and savings online and in stores that specialize in overstock quantities. Get one or get ten, you'll save a bundle either way.

When you live in a climate that doesn't change dramatically from season to season, there's never a bad time to buy things on sale. Even if you live in an area where all 4 seasons are pronounced, buy at the end of each season for the next year. Your shopping dollars will go farther than ever and your kids will think you're the coolest shopper on the planet.

If your kids are really big into fashion but it's putting a strain on your wallet, you can probably pick up some awesome deals at your local vintage or resale shop. The way kids go through clothing sizes, they typically don't get the chance to wear clothes out before they are on to a bigger size. This is the perfect opportunity for you to find the hottest styles for less and you don't even have to tell your kids! Many resale shops offer in store credit for gently used items that you bring in, so try to get more for your dollar this way, too!
