Kids Back Packs - How to Buy the Best BackPack For Your Child

By Miranda Xavier

It can be hard choosing a back pack for kids. What your child would like is important, but it is also important that you have something which is suitable. Be warned that their preferences can change with the wind, and what they want one day they won't want the next.

Below are the three ways I have chosen my kids back packs - and so far it has produced perfect results - a backpack which they are happy to carry and I am happy for them to use.

1. Don't Go For Anything Too Fancy - A plain back pack is the most versatile and usually easy to make into a successful purchase. Buying plain means that you can spend a rainy afternoon decorating it with badges and key rings. Some how, (probably from parties) children collect badges and key rings - personalizing a bag is a great way to use these. This will also produce a bag which is easily identifiable.

2. Think About Size - If you buy a back pack which is too big your child will fill it up and then complain that it is too heavy, you will then end up carrying it for them. Equally, if it is too small there will be tears about not being able to keep their art work flat.

3. How Much Do You Spend - you don't want to spend so little that the bag falls apart, but you don't want to spend too much as it is possible that it will be lost! Also it is worth remembering that a back pack which is used for school will get quite a battering and will hence have to be replace each year - so don't set a president which you don't want to up hold annually.

In a perfect world I would also suggest that you only bought washable bags - unfortunately these are very hard to find, so if you go, congratulations, but don't worry too much about this requirement.

One last word of advice, it may be best if your child doesn't come shopping with you. If you take your kid to the shop there is a chance that they will see something you don't think is suitable and the whole thing will turn into a nightmare. Buying it in advance and then giving it as a gift for achieving something may be more successful.

Good luck and wishing you a successful shopping trip.
