Usually, the doctor would prescribe topical antiviral ointments such as Acyclovir, Valcyclovir and Famiclovir. These medicines could help curing the blisters but would not be an assurance that they would stop your cold sores from coming back.

A more effective way on how to cure a cold sore completely is through a holistic approach. As it is a viral infection, you should make sure that you have a strong immune system. This could mean a radical change in your current lifestyle but you could also be assured that there will be no more succeeding cold sore outbreaks. In case that an outbreak would ever happen, you should refrain from scratching or squeezing the blisters to prevent it from spreading. You should also take lysine supplements which inhibit the growth of the virus and Vitamin C which will help boost your immune system.

Curing cold sore is not an easy task. Although the blister will heal by itself, the frustration and loss of self-confidence resulting from having it is much harder to fix.
