X-Box360 vs. PS3

By Philip Woods

Nowadays it seems as though every second person is interested in buying a gaming console, so it's hardly surprising that so many people want to know which console is better. Is it the PlayStation3, or is it the X-Box360? To be honest, you can't really go according to face value only, but instead, you need to weigh up the various pros and cons such as how each console differs in terms of its features and qualities. For example, both these consoles make use of the very latest technology, and even the audio and graphics are extremely comparable on paper, but in reality, you'll probably find that the X-Box360 tends to be superior in terms of performance and reliability.

While there are some games you will find for the Playstation 3 that you won't find on the X-Box, overall, the 360 has a greater variety of games, and far more titles. Many titles can be found for both gaming platforms, and the cost of new games is very close for both consoles. You can play DVDs on both, but the PS3 has the new Blue Ray, and is better able to play older games, from other Playstation consoles.

Even though the PS3 has the BlueRay feature built it, it's worthwhile bearing in mind that the PlayStation's have always had issues as far as playing movies is concerned. Let's just say that if it's a BlueRay player you're after, then you'd probably find buying a BlueRay player to be a cheaper alternative. Of course this doesn't mean that the PlayStation isn't a top class gaming platform, but unless you are really after all the extra bells and whistles, the X-Box360 is by far a better option in terms of price.

If you really need to examine more detailed product descriptions then you should ideally review them online and then decide which one is best for you. This will also allow you to determine what new products maybe lined up for each console. When one considers that new consoles are being designed continuously is hardly surprising that the vast majority of gamers tend to find making a choice difficult.

One good thing the keep in mind about buying a Playstation 3 is that it has a basic Lenux computer built in, and can easily access the internet through your television, and phone line. Spending money on a Playstation 3 is much cheaper than buying separate components. If you want a good gaming console, with plenty of games to keep you going, for a decent price, you may want to consider the X-Box360. It is a recommendation that you purchase the deluxe package, with the extra 60GB of hard drive, rather than the basic or even the Arcade edition.

Of course only you can decide which platform to buy, but no matter which one you choose, don't forget to compare the prices before you buy. Also make sure that you know where you stand in terms of warranties and guarantees. You should also determine whether or not you'll be responsible for shipping and handling charges. Having said that; many retail outlets do of course have websites, and if you can find your console of choice online, then it is possible to have it shipped directly to the store, which of course means that you then won't need to worry about any shipping charges. Above all, if you follow this route, you'll also have the advantage in that it is easy for you to contact a company representative should anything go wrong further down the line, rather than spending hours on the phone trying to explain the problem. Also, if something does go wrong, it will be a lot easier for you to return the console, considering you won't need to ship it anywhere.
